CLIENT & DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
CLIENT: FANIA RECORDS is a legendary New York label that pioneered the musical genre that came to be known as “salsa” music. Fania Records was often referred to as the Latin Motown during its heyday from the late 1960’s to the 70’s, as it launched and promoted the careers of the most prominent salsa Latin musicians of its time, and it helped to spread their music all over the world. In 2005 Emusica acquired the assets and musical portfolio of the company and is now embarking on an effort to re-launch and redistribute their music.
As part of their efforts to once again promote and reignite the interest on their collection of classic Latin music, Fania Records has acquired two luxury skyboxes for the use of their recording artists when they are in the area. They are looking for a designer who can help promote the rich history and legacy that the company is known for, and who is able to create a space that is exciting and reflective of the salsa rhythms which are hot, urbane, rhythmically sophisticated and compelling.
DESIGN REQUIREMENTS:
-Incorporate the music company’s logo and brand into the design
of the space
-Incorporate aspects of the company’s musical
style
-Incorporate sustainable furnishing, materials and finishes
wherever possible
CONCEPT & INSPIRATION
 | The Roots of Salsa
Throughout this design, elements from the diverse genres of music and cultural influences that comprise the roots of salsa will be represented, through the use of graphic elements, color, movement and exciting surfaces and materials which are also ecologically responsible and friendly. The result will be a space that is exciting, rhythmic, full of life and representative of the Afro-Caribbean roots of its company and the musical genre that it help to launch into the world. |
